When I was 13 years old my father took me to the Festival Park Odeon in Stoke-on-Trent. I had just finished an audiobook read by Christopher Lee and it had become a new obsession. The book was an unabridged recording of Lord of the Rings. We sat in the dark together and as Kate Winslet’s Galadriel intoned an elvish blessing before recounting the legend of Isidor and the finding of The Ring of Power I turned to my Dad. I saw in his face the same excitement that I felt inside and we fell into middle earth together. It is still one of my favourite childhood memories with him and I have remained a Tolkien fan ever since. So when I was cast as part of the fight team for Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power you can imagine how thrilled I was.
Since the season is yet to be released I can’t say much more about it but after 8 weeks of fighting elves as an orc I still can’t believe that I got to be a part of something I hold so dear.
